Beautiful high-grade stalking rifle. Marked “GREIFELT & CO. / SUHL” on the bottom of the receiver. Also “GREIF / 8.15x46” with the griffin logo above. Also “K.H. COLLATH, BESSAU / ANH.“ on the top flat of the barrel. Greifelt & Co. of Suhl, Thuringia, est. 1885 and active until 1940. K.H. Collath of Bessau, Anh. Est. 1880. Right side of the receiver and block are marked with proof marks. Single shot, hammerless, bottom lever falling block action, top tang safety, double-set triggers. Serial number 38424, made 4 / 1939. Caliber 8.15 x 46R. 26 ½-inch octagon barrel, bore like new, bluing 99%. Ramp front sight with beaded blade. Dovetail rear sight with two V-notches, one fixed and one flip-up. Also has bases for claw mounts and equipped with sling swivels. Solid frame, casehardened very brilliant colors, 100% coverage. 13 7/8-inch forend secured by barrel wedge, very high-figure wood, all but 1 ¼-inches is checkered. L.O.P. 14 3/16, beautiful high-figure walnut stock, figure straightens into the pistol grip and wrist. Right hand cheek piece, horn butt plate and pistol grip cap. Both stock and forend are overall excellent, except for one small dent in bottom of stock between pistol grip cap and sling swivels and a few tiny dents on the right side of the forend at the receiver.
