Browning BAR DeLuxe, made in Belgium, .300 Win Mag, 24” barrel, semi-auto, gas-operated, serial number 28941 M8, made in 1968. Redfield 2 ¾ x scope, 1” tube, and Redfield mounts. Hooded ramp front sight, flip-up V-notch adjustable rear sight. Smooth trigger. Barrel and receiver bluing 100%. Enclosed and removable box magazine. Walnut checkered full wrap-around forend. Walnut checkered stock, LOP 14” over solid Browning rifle butt pad. Flat-knob pistol grip. After-market engraving by William H. Mains, signed (signature worked into engraving). Gold inlay engraved bull moose on left, grizzly bear on the right, and great horned owl on the rear face of the square-backed receiver. All are within engraved game scenes and surrounded by Germanic scrolling. Mr. Mains was commissioned by celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis, Jr. See: “American Engravers,” C.R.
